In honor of our great appreciation for those who love to order, classify, categorize, group, arrange, grade and rank (and just in time for Taxonomist Appreciation Day), Buzz Hoot Roar is proud to announce its second annual pun contest.
Here’s how it works:
1. Tweet us your best taxonomy-related pun by Friday, February 27.
2. We’ll select our five favorites.
3. Winners will receive: their puns illustrated on Buzz Hoot Roar’s blog, a set of printed greeting cards to share with the taxonomists in their lives, and a BHR super-soft T-shirt.
Let the witticisms begin!
Dear Buzzhootroar – what twitter handle would you like us to tweet to? Please let me know
Thanks
Marcus
This is too long for a tweet so I won’t enter the competition proper, but you might like how I remember the taxonomic ranks. It’s original, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s similar stuff out there.
I love feghoots and tortured puns, so I have a story about the OK Gatsby, who not only identifies and logs highly intelligent households, but also teaches others to do the same. His idiot boss has requested a veto on each one, probably just to feel important so…
If Gatsby sees a genius family, he’ll order the class to file ’em, asking dum-dum mainly for appearances.
With a few twists of the brain, and possibly a few tears, you should be able to find 8 ranks from ‘Species’ up to ‘Life’, with just 5 syllables separating them (but I can go as low as 3).
